James runs Anthesis’ Transactions & ESG Advisory business. He oversees over 300 professionals across the Americas, EMEA and Asia, supporting our global client base across M&A transactions, business intelligence, human rights, sustainability strategy and ESG reporting.
For two decades, James has built, scaled and sold people businesses, participating in four successful exits. He joined Anthesis following the sale of Wallbrook, a global ESG consultancy and B-Corp, which he co-founded, specialising in M&A due diligence, corruption risk management and human rights. Prior to that, he was Managing Director at Stroz Friedberg, a private equity-based risk consultancy where he ran their global due diligence practice, and participated in its sale to Aon Plc.
James holds a master’s degree in international relations from the University of Cambridge and a first-class bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Exeter. He is a ranked professional by Chambers and Partners for Investigative Due Diligence.
Externally, James serves as an Independent Governor at King Edward VI Aston School.
